There are just 3 days until Christmas -- I know my kids are getting really wound up about it because my Daughter asks every morning if it is Christmas yet. Though we have an advent calendar that we count the days on, there is still nothing like the anticipation of this magical holiday, especially when you're a child.
Many of you have probably already saw this posted on Facebook, but just in case you have not I thought I would share this
Reindeer Camera with all of you. Every day the Reindeer get fed at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. and you can watch live! Plus see live streaming footage of the Reindeer all day long.
Last year just before Christmas, we went on an overnight stay at the
Double JJ Ranch. We went mainly for the
Gold Rush Waterpark, which is a giant indoor aquatic play center (super fun!), but we ended up having lots of fun at the other activities they had for children as well. During the day they have different crafts the kids can do and one of the things they had was making "
Magic Reindeer Food" to put out for Santa's Reindeer. I have since read several different "takes" on the idea, but they are all lots of fun and really easy.
The basic ingredient is Oatmeal or Oats, which you probably already have in your pantry. Then there are variations of additions such as sprinkles (sugar), colored sugars (like you would use for cookie decorating) and even glitter. You mix the "ingredients" all together and then have the kids sprinkle the Reindeer food on the lawn on Christmas Eve.
Here is a little poem to go along with the food :
Be sure to take this magic food and sprinkle on the lawn,
On Christmas, Santa's reindeer travel miles before the dawn.
The smell of oats and glitter path will guide them on their way,
And you'll wake up to Santa's gifts the morning of Christmas Day.
My children really enjoyed this fun and easy activity and I hope that yours will too.
