You Can Bake It - Rosemary & Garlic Focaccia

I am a carb addict. I could live solely on breads and pastas...well I would have to have something to drink too, but you get where I'm going with this. In the bookmarks of my Google Chrome browser I must have at least 30 different bread recipes. There are a few tried and true ones that I keep going back to and while I have only made this just once, it has left quite an impression on my senses.

A Focaccia by definition is "a large, round, flat Italian bread, sprinkled before baking with olive oil, salt, and often herbs". This Rosemary and Garlic Focaccia is not only sprinkled, it is infused with herbs, olive oil and salt for a rich buttery-ness (is that a word?) that is amazing all on its own.

Even if you don't think you are a baker, you should try this. As far as beautiful breads go, this seems to me the least-complicated (read : least number of steps), so that means less opportunity to mess it up. I urge you...if you love bread, like garlic and love bread (did I say that already) then you will want to at least try this just once.

Rosemary and Garlic Focaccia Ingredient List
2 cloves garlic (you can use garlic powder)
3 cups bread flour
2 1/2 tsp active dry yeast (.25 oz)
2 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp olive oil
1 cup water
1 tbsp fresh rosemary, chopped (you can use dried)
additional olive oil and coarse salt

Coarse salt is recommended due to the texture and the extra flavor it provides. I picked up a salt grinder at the dollar store (Dollar Tree is the best!) and it worked beautifully for this recipe.

We almost ate the entire thing the night I baked it. Fortunately the next day I was able to have enough left to make 2 panini turkey sandwiches. YUM!

John Ball Zoo WGVU Kids Day - $1.00 Admission + GIVEAWAY!
