Better Homes & Gardens Review PLUS Cranberry Orange Scone Recipe!

Baking is one of my favorite things to do in the kitchen. Many people think I prefer to cook because I am always trying new things in the kitchen, but my heart really belongs to baking. I think this is because my Grandmother always did a lot of baking and it was something comforting I remember. I love everything about it though -- the ability to work with your hands, to be creative by adding a dash of this or that to a recipe and best of all, the lovely fragrance baked goods bring to your home.

I received some great Better Homes and Gardens products intended to bring my two loves together -- coffee and baking. Now usually I make muffins and cookies but this time I wanted to do something a little more fun and unique. I opted to make Cranberry Orange Scones.

Scones might seem like a daunting undertaking, but I assure you they are really quite simple. Keep in mind that a scone isn't like most pastries...it isn't nearly as sweet and its dryness is intended to be paired with coffee. I chose it for just that reason.

This recipe in particular is really great because of its simplicity and because the addition of Sour Cream makes the scones softer than a typical scone is thought to be. You will have to try them to see for yourself how wonderful they are. Even my kids devoured them!

The Better Homes and Gardens Stand Mixer made mixing the butter into the flour so much easier than had I used a pastry cutter. I am not fond of manual labor. ;-)

My recipe even called for spraying a cookie sheet with non-stick spray -- well thanks to these Better Homes & Gardens non-stick Bakeware pans, I didn't have to prep any pan! And the scones slid nicely right off with no sticking at all. It was fabulous! Cleanup was even easier since there was nothing stuck to the pan!

While the pastries were cooling off, I used my Better Homes & Gardens 10-Cup Grind & Brew Coffee Maker. I LOVE how I can get freshly ground coffee without any fuss! It was so easy -- and absolutely delicious! If you have never had freshly ground coffee beans I HIGHLY recommend trying this out!
